6 Ways You Could Be Kidding Yourself In Your Healthcare Career

J.T. O’Donnell | CAREEREALISM.com

Rationalization

Often accompanied by denial, rationalization is used to justify things we do that we know are wrong. For example, the employee who submits fake receipts on his expense report to get a few extra bucks every month and says to himself, “Everyone does it. And besides, the company doesn’t pay me enough.” Or, the job seeker who lies on their resume to get the interview and validates it with, “Their candidate criteria is unrealistic…it’s the only way I’ll get the chance to prove I’m the right person for the job.”

To sum it up, rationalization is the way we allow ourselves to take short cuts, avoid extra work and exploit resources.

QUESTION: What have you rationalized recently to make yourself feel better about a choice or decision at work that, deep down, you knew was questionable?

Yes, I will agree with the fact, in several situations either in Professional or Personal life, I compared myself with my Collegues & Family, I tried to learn & utilise the skills they are using in day today life., experience, observing others success & failures, difficulties will give a direction for us how to go about it, only thing don't compare ourselves with anybody, take positive aspect only., on every coin we will have both sides like positive and negative ends, take positive only, move on that spirit, sure we will succeed in life., Learning is never ending., we should have initiation, acceptance, interest, motivation to learn anything any time.,

Man is a Socialbeing and gregarious in nature., as a Humanbeing one wants to share our credits to our fellowbeings, one has to be role model to others., I feel it many times, when I authored Text Books in Nursing., whenever new book comes out I used to feel as newborn I am delivering, when people used to do comment over my books, I feel very happy to share the joy., if some creticizes also I own't feel bad, I will keep everything in mind, it will be helpful for me in my revision time., I totally agree with basking in reflected Glory

This article has a really interesting perspective compared to any other career-related articles I've read before. I like how it's so honest instead of being just like 'You can do it!.'

I think as job-seekers in a poor economy, some of us are certainly guilty of these things. I know I blame outside circumstances or rationalize to make myself feel better but in the end, I really could just be kidding myself in a career. Sure, it's important to stay positive and resilient, but it's also incredibly important to stay realistic as well.
