The Meaning Behind Stupid Nursing Interview Questions

Jeff Hindenach | NursingLink

3. Where Do You See Yourself in Five Years?

Why It’s Stupid: No one can tell where they are going to be that far into the future. Life happens. Things change — especially in nursing. Which is why this question frustrates most job interviewees. But the question also seems to set a trap, making the interviewee answer in terms of where they see themselves within that particular hospital or organization, afraid that any other answer will disprove their loyalty.

What It Really Means: No hospital or clinic expects you to swear a lifetime allegiance to them during your interview. The question is a chance for you to speak to your long-term goals, give them a better idea of your nursing career development plan and how it could progress with the organization. It also gives you a chance to speak to your strengths and highlight the areas where you believe you’ll grow the most.

I have heard these questions many times. The ones I hate are the experience quetions "Tell me about a time when you disagreed with a co-worker and how you handled that" yikes! who can think something like that up quickly? Who really has disagreements with co-workers? We discuss things through, not disagree. The worst interview I ever had was about ten of those type questions and I just wanted to run, not walk far from that employer. I would never want to work there after she grilled me like that. Awful.

very nice, it encourages any interviwee how best they can explain their strongness and how well they can utilise their intellectual skills and putting into right communicative pattern, it is a chance for the interviwer on what capacity they can appoint interviwee, how much justice or employer can expect the services from the candidate when they will be employed in near future, it gives an estimation to assess the strengths and weaknesses of the candidate, I remember my grand father used to say when we are children, think thrice before you speak out and control your tongue, before expressing anything think check twice and speak, four things in life we can not get it back like " 4 THINGS THAT YOU CAN NOT RECOVER IN LIFE ... 1. THE STONE -after the throw., 2. The WORD ... after its said., 3. THE OCCASION .. After the loss...,4. THE TIME after its' gone"., its' true, interview is always God has given opportunity to proove our strengths so one has to utilise the opportunity and win the situation., never hesitate when we have doubt in interview, we can ask excuse and ask the question agsain, this is my personal experience, I am sharing, I lost nice opportunity to get employment when I am young due to inhibition and hesitation to come out ourselves, yap. you are right, we should well ahead before the interview, study the organization web links , their mission, policies, procedures, responsibilities in each cadre in which you are interested to apply, learn more about the agency what you are applying., Thanks for giving tips to attend the interview
