8 Things Nurses Should Never Say to Doctors

5. “I told the family you would see them as soon as you arrived.”


While this comment may seem innocent enough (and sometimes is said to get the family off your case), something may have come up so the doctor can’t go right away, and this really puts the doctor in an awkward spot if the family later complains about the doctor’s belated appearance. Not to mention, it makes you look like you don’t know what’s going on, and keeps the family waiting unnecessarily.

Only make comments like this if the doctor has expressly told you that she will be there right away.

Don’t assume! You know what they say about the word “assume,” right?
