10 Most Annoying Patients

The Gossip
Unlike the Self-Diagnoser, the Gossip hasn’t done any actual research, but she’s heard about a disease from a friend of friend and she’s convinced she has it. Or maybe she heard about a new strain of the bird flu on the news and swears she has the same symptoms. The Gossip picks up new diagnoses and illnesses much like an eccentric coin collector. Similar to the Hypochondriac, the more dramatic and life-threatening the sickness is, the better, as far as the Gossip is concerned.
How to deal: The Gossip is more likely than other annoying patients to listen to facts and hard data, if presented in a calm, and logical fashion. While this kind of patient may spout medical theories and be all over the board discussing her signs and symptoms, all the Gossip needs is a good talking to. Once again, explain to the Gossip that every patient is different and there’s no reason to panic.
