Alabama is the worst state to work in because your employer can turn you into the board of nursing for anything. 9% of the time the board will always beleive the employer. It is almost like hire fire at will law. Are there states to become employed in that really helps protect nurses from employers?

There is a lot of confusion among people as to which state is the best in the US for nursing jobs. To help sort out this issue, Affordable Nursing Schools has created a quick survey to gather information from the people, esp. health care practitioners, who know the living environment and the actual pay rates in the states across the country. Please fill in the survey so that people who are seeking education in nursing are guided properly as well as nursing professionals.

I make $25 per hour as an RN.with 5 years experience currently medical/surgixal in Georgia. Highest pay was $30.50 per hour 2 years ago doing dialysis in East Texas fulltime. Got offered $24.75 per hour in Wyoming but rent was $1000-1500 per month so pay versus cost of living was not worth relocating.

I am an LPN in Florida. I work at a hospital in the tampa bay area. I make base rate 24/hr. with all of my differentials for night shift, weekend pay, national certifications, etc I make around 34/hr. So Florida does pay. For the new RN. Apply at teaching hospitals! Most have excellent new nurse programs.

Why do people just look at the money? Nursing is the worst job to have in the States lately. No respect. All the things that go wrong get blamed on the nurse. Nurses can get sued and lose their license (a lot quicker than a doctor) Administration DOES NOT support nurses. Money isn't everything when you have to be bullied at work, hurt your back and get yelled at constantly.

I live in California, and RNs DO make bank here. I live in the bay area, and they start at 80K! Averaging 80-120K (depending on the area of expertise) per year! You should try California!
