Four Skills You Can Transfer to a Nursing Career

Megan Malugani / Monster Contributing Writer

If you’re a newcomer to healthcare or are considering entering it, you may think your job history and experiences outside the field are irrelevant. You’re wrong. Many of your strengths and skills – whether they include customer-service expertise or the ability to multitask under pressure – are probably more relevant and transferable to healthcare than you realize. A healthcare professional and two recruiters offer a rundown on some valuable transferable skills as well as advice on how to showcase such attributes during your job search.

very good information because doing my resume i always thought that my past experiences with jobs are irrelevant to healthcare and that they just want to see my work history just to see if i had a job i never thought that it was to see my skills and how they would pertain to healthcare. very good info!

i just graduated from a community college for Certified Nursing Assistant. Its kind of strange to me that they want us to take a GNA test to add to my CNA saying that i wont get hired because most medicial facilities want a GNA/CNA experience. When i went to school i studied CNA and its the same as a GNA so why should i pay for a class that i dont really need if they are both in the same.
