Five Nursing Specialties That Offer Promise and Excitement

Five Nursing Specialties That Offer Promise and Excitement

Jeff Morrow / Articlesbase

It is no big secret that the upcoming retirement of the baby boomers will put enormous strain on the health care industry. While this may not be great times for hospital management, qualified nurses are in high demand and enjoy many job benefits including sign on bonuses, tuition reimbursement, and retention bonuses.

There are hundreds of career avenues for nurses, but here are five career paths that show an especially high social need and can offer nurses both financial and career satisfaction.

              1. Home Health Care Nurses

              2. Staff Nurses

              3. School Nurses

              4. Forensic Nurses

              5. Legal Nurse Consultants

I am also interested in Forensics. Does anyone have advice where to start? I already have my BSN. I've worked in Med/Surg, NeuroICU, PCU and LTC. I've just never seen and ad for Forensic nursing. I would like shadow a forensic nurse to see if it's what i really want to do. That's one thing you've got to love about this job is there is some many choices out there.

Well, Val, adult psychiatric nursing is a very rewarding and career path! BUT, before embarking on a particular path - i would suggest that you acquire Med-Surg experience. Patients can go bad fast and if all you know is your particular specialty area . . .

I will graduate pretty soon with a A.D.N , I also have a B.S. in health services administration with a minor in health science. What career path does any suggest i follow? I am young, organized, initiator, high energy. I love the fast past environment... I also love learning new skills ( i get bored easily)
