2010 Registered Nurse Salary Projections
NursingLink
As health care continues to be a national focus and demand for health care workers skyrockets, registered nurses can expect to see their salaries, and other benefits, grow in 2010. More and more employers are offering sweet incentives such as sign-on bonuses, tuition reimbursement, and more flexible hours in order to entice nurses to work in their facilities. However, hiring trends will likely be slow in the initial months of 2010 until a health care bill is fully implemented; after that, hiring for nursing jobs is expected to pick up in a big way to meet ever-growing need.
Overall job opportunities are expected to be excellent for registered nurses. Employers in some parts of the country and in certain employment settings report difficulty in attracting and retaining an adequate number of RNs, primarily because of an aging RN workforce and a lack of younger workers to fill positions.
Median 2009 Salary
$63,504
Projected 2010 Median Salary
With 4% Increase: $66,044
With a 3.8% Increase: $65,917
With a 2.7% Increase: $65,218
Projected Need, 2008 – 2018: 581,500

I am an LVN and want RNs and LVNs to know there are great job opportunities in Texas. I moved here from another state where I could not make a living. The state supported schools are hiring in a big way. It is good work, hard work, but honest work with good nurses with big hearts. True team spirit! Rewarding work. Good money with lots of opportunities for upward progress. Benefits are great. Come on in, the water is fine!

I am a new grad LVN with only about six months experience. I have a per-diem job and a seasonal job, and am currently looking for a full-time position but nobody hires new grads!! EVERYBODY requires at least a year of experience, it's SO hard to find anything, it's such a catch 22!!!! How and where do I gain the experience if no one will hire new grads? If anyone has any suggestions they will be greatly appreciated!! Thanks everyone for your responses:)

I have been an LPN for 19 years and currently am working PRN work for an agency. I need full time as I am a single parent. I have a broad range of experience from Med-Surg to Trachs / Vents. We are willing to relocate as long as relocation expenses are covered. At the end of this week, 6/1/12, I will complete a Medical Billing and Coding course so I understand ICD- 9 CM DX coding as well as CPt - 4 Coding. I am starting to prepare for my CPC exam.

Hi...I am a diploma school of nursing graduate, living in New York state. I have been out of the work field for the past 7-8 years tending to medical issues with a family member. I have experience in OB/GYN, mostly Labor & Delivery/Post-partum, have OR experience (circulating and scrub) for C. sections. My last nursing experience has been in long-term care in management (unit manager/supervisor). I am looking to re-enter the nursing field on a per diem and/or part-time basis....however, if the right full-time position opened up I would consider it. Thank you for your time. Good luck to everyone.

I am an LPN in AZ, LOOKING for work!! I have experience working with Substance Abuse, and Children. I'm currently working as a substitute school nurse, but I need a regular schedule. Unfortunately prior to moving to AZ last May, I was off for 3 years - my son had several learning delays and many Dr. appts. Now that he's ready to start kindergarten I need to work! I'm not having any luck and getting really discouraged.
