#4: Doctors DON’T Consult Parents

Only 21 states explicitly allow all minors to consent to contraceptive services without parental permission. Legalities aside, contraceptives can cause health complications for women, including stroke, blood clots, bone density loss, or pain.

Because of their young age, minors may not fully understand the health implications of taking such contraceptives. Yet despite these medical risks and state laws, 58% of doctors would give adolescents contraceptives without parental consent. Let’s hope these doctors are properly informing their patients and taking every precaution.
