Hi everyone, I just joined the site today. I have been considering getting into nursing as a career and looking for some advice/tips or anything anyone can give me. I have no medical background and my biggest reason for looking into this is because I really want a job where I can help people. Helping others really makes me happy and I have been temping (administrative) at a hospital for the last few months after just moving and it seems like something that would really be good for me both for finding something I like to do, and to secure a job in these hard times. Please msg me if you have any advice or tips!

I just joined the site today. I have been an LPN for 27 years. Have worked ER, private duty, home health, medical/oncology floor in hospital, doctors office. I never had a problem with jobs until the last two years after the hospital where I was employed decided they only wanted RN's. I am currently working a private duty case.

Hello, everyone i just joined the site today. I am very excited to be able to talk with other nurses all over the US. I have been an LPN for over 10 years this time. A very long story, have done travel nursing, hospital, LTC, Private Duty, Home Health, Ventilators, ICU, CCU, TCU, Tele, Ortho,MED SURG, not a lot i havent done. Was injured on the job back in OCT of 2008 and havent been able to work since Jan 20th 2009. Hope to go back to work within the next year if workmans comp will approve my surgery, its been a long battle. After all we all worked very hard for our nursing degree and I have always given 110 percent to my place of employment and my patients. But when something goes wrong with us where is the support from the place that we work? I have even been told that nurses are a dime a dozen. I'm sorry i dont believe that , do any of you?

Hello. Thanks for the welcome and the opportunity to connect with other nurses. I've been recieving emails for a while, but just joined today. I'm a LPN and new ADN grad playing the waiting game for my ATT. I'm grateful for some leisure time to check out articles and networking opportunities. I'm a little nervous about the job market in NE Ohio. Jobs seem sparse even though RN's are supposedly in demand. I look forward to making use of all of the info and tools this site provides. Maybe I can be of help to others as well. This is a neat site! Thanks.

Thank you for the warm welcome. I am a first term LPN student and may have some questions about some things. I hope someone will be able to help me. I am terrified of the NCLEX. But like I said, I am a first term student and have a long way to go. I was really scared of the pharmacology and stressed over it and am doing great. However, the fundementals class is hard. I just need to get used to the application questions I guess. Well, thank you again, and I am looking forward to speaking with some of you.
By the way, since I haven't had time to look a the site completely, is there a chat room or instant messenging thing here?
