Those who succeed in nursing and gain the most fulfillment from it will start their careers with certain qualities. Do you have what it takes to be a great nurse?
Thank you for posting this, it clearly highlights the qualities of an effective nurse as well as provides a mirror for wannabe nurses to look at and see if that could be them.
Being a nurse is so natural for me as a mother of three children.
Happy to be on the right track!
This will help me to refresh and lift my spirit up to become a great nurse.
I like most of this presentation, and although I agree that nurses need to have all of these qualities, it makes it sound, in a couple areas, that nurse should also be like superhero....to me that is not realistic and not how we should spread the news of nursing.
after going through all these points I say YES, an excellent nurse needs all these qualities otherwise patients will never be satisfied with the quality of nursing care offered to them and when the patient is not satisfied, the nurse can hardly have job satisfaction.
i totally agree with this point of empathy. Putting oneself in the patients situation gives us a better insight into the patients problem and as such solving it becomes alot easier.
thank you for your piece on burnout and compassion fatigue as a RN,BSN with 25+ years in acute
critical care and surgery I have recently transitioned into home health contrary to myths in nursing this is a great option for putting our skill set to excellent use in the field,it has helped me and will continue to help me set limits and take care of my need to get better control over my practice.
as far as qualities of a nurse I would say there were no surprises in the article yet it was good to see all I/WE possess as a profession frequently underpaid, under acknowledged as our business/finance counterparts
