Those who succeed in nursing and gain the most fulfillment from it will start their careers with certain qualities. Do you have what it takes to be a great nurse?
In reply to the question of the difference between an rn and bsn and msn. An RN is just the title, registered nurse. In order to be an RN, you have to have gotten a degree in either an associates (ADN) or bachelors program (BSN). You can also get a masters in nursing (MSN), which I think most people do after getting one of the previous degrees and taking the NCLEX. I hope that answered your question adequately.
I just have to affirm this nursung is the most graceful profession in the world, I'm proud to be one.
It's a good thing to remind ourselves all these ageless qualities.
I agree with the above list and think a few things could be added: sense of humor, perseverance/hard working, insight, and a broad range of experiences with all kinds of people.
SO TRUE!!!
Just an additional belief, when you save a persons life, they call you a hero.
when you combine science w/ caring, they call you expert
when you share your compassion, they call you friend
and when you do all these, they call you a
NURSE....
I feel that most people who enter the field of nursing, already possess these qualities. However as with everything in life, fine tuning and years of knowledge and exposure shape them into usable attributes of ones character...
As a first quarter nursing student, I am pleased to see that our current curriculum addresses and actively opens the floor for discussing these very important attributes of nurses. I am very impressed with the list and, in particular, with the inclusion of the concept of "emotional stability". How true!

There's a reason not everyone can be a nurse! Very heart-warming article.
