I am A BSN student at the University of Arkansas Fort Smith. I also serve in the Army Reserve. The Army Nurse Corps has a good program for Junior students. If accepted into the Army Nurse Corps Candidate program, the nursing student will recieve a $10,000 bonus, $5,000 for the junior year and $5,000 for the senior year. Also, the nursing student recieves a $1,000 a month stipend, no taxes. Once the student passes boards the student will have to serve for 5 years actuve duty. The age limit for this program is a minimum age of 21 to a max age of 35. Prior service time counts in subtracting years if one is over 35. The clinch is one must graduate before 40. The ANC also has a program for 2 year ADNs. If they join the National Guard or Army reserve, They will commision into service as 2nd Leutenants (01). they have to have their BSN before promotion to Captain(03). Guard and reserve nurses serve a minimum of one weekend a month and 2-3 weeks in the summer. The Army will pay a ADN RN a stipend of 1,900 a month to go for their BSN. They even do it for a BSN going for their MSN. Just one weekend a month and there are plenty of part time nusing postions. That is a very generous offer because most ADNs can complete their BSN degrees on line. I hope this information is usefull to someone.

Sassy, you have to have a bsn to be commissioned. However the military will pay for yout schooling if you agree to be active duty the same amount of years they paid for for your schooling. Its actually a good idea. im going to look into it. However Im prior service so I may not get a great bonus!

I am a certified nursing assistant who will be going back to school for registered nursing. I wanted to know to be a military nurse do you have to have your BA or can you just have your AS degree. Because I am seriously considering becoming a military nurse in the Air Force. So if someone can assist me with this question I would greatly appreciate it.
