very good points, i have been a nurse for 25 years and am transitioning into home health iv infusion. .work, little did i know how important it word be to prepare questions of my own for my interviewers,i called an friend i knew and picked her brain
thank you notes are still a biggy, even a email in a crunch is better than nothing and CUTESY anything is bad. in this job market employers have to be selective someone with a clean put together appearance, arrives on time or calls if lost, never assume just because you show up late to an interview the employer will still interview thus calling ahead is so important.
otherwise listen to your gut
ask about office/corporate culture
sleep on any big decisions and make sure you want a job with the employer
dont overextend yourself
look at the journey ahead, and stress the importance of learning to be a teamplayer

ok, I agree with most of these.............and give a teeny bit of slack with the cutesy email..............holy cow, I've had this same email address since I've had a computer................I mean, my boss likes mine because she can temember it. At least it doesnt say 'hotblondie' or something tacky like that. See it could be worse. But always prep for an interview, and read up on the facilities mission. And what are the goals of the facility, ask what are the chances for advancement. within the facility. Asking about chances for advancement and also what are the educational benefits with the facility once you get hired somewhere. It costs a fortune to train a new nurse in a new facility. Oh and check your spelling even after spellcheck. Also, I got a call from someone I sent a thankyou note to nearly 2 monthes ago, lol. I had no idea who that woman was when she called me, when she told me who she was, she then asked if I was still interested in a position with her faciity............I asked quickly about benefits and salary...............THEN I said I wasnt looking at this time, but what if I was unemployed now? See, it does pay to be polite.
