I am currently working as a CNA in Swedish Medical Center Issaquah Campus, which is about 15 minutes East of Seattle. I've been doing this job for 1 year, 6 months and 5 days now and is paid, I suppose, really well. I get $17.69 an hour for a base pay. Plus $1.10 for evening differential, $1.75 for night differential and $1.00 for weekend differential. And for all these, I am truly grateful! :-)

"TOYAM" said it right. People think of CNA'S as not much, yet they work harder than many others with the higher degrees, .I've done cna work for 25 plus years in mass, ..and went out on my own 15 yrs ago, as a CHHA/"cna"....and make way more money. Pick and choose my clients, and at the families request perform many dutes of that, that an LPN would do, such as tube feedings, catheter care, med management and much more. Nursing homes and others simply do not pay. How 12 dollars and change an hour IN MASS is considered good considering the rents and cost of living here is ridiculous. A MINIMUM of 15.00 an hour should be paid. And also companies want to pay a CNA or other, whom has 25 plus years in Alzheimer's , the same as a newly certified, 18 or 20 something year old "kid", ..is also ridiculous. This sort of work is definitely the kind where "experience" should be most considered, but far too many companies do not. Which is why I'll never work for a company or agency again. Agencies are a joke, they charge patient/families 23 to 29 bucks an hour and want to pay the worker a lousy 10-13 bucks. Best of luck!

I have been a CNA for 5 years and I only make $9.00. In my opinion people only see us as the nursing assistance that wipes behinds. Lots of people don't realize if it wasn't for CNAs.......Lpns, RNs, DONs and etc. couldn't do their jobs. CNAs we do the hard parts like being Hands on with the patients. We check b/p, temps, pulse, o2 level, pul se. We cook for them, we feed them, we bath them, wash their clothes and put them up. We take notes on everything they eat and how much they eat and drink. How many time the go to the restroom. CNAs tell the lpn or rn when someone is sick. Most of the time we tell them whats wrong with the elder/patient. They just copy what we do and give meds. Their jobs are important also but our jobs are most important because without us they couldn't give the right meds or they wouldn't know whats going on with them. We all have important jobs so pay the CNAs like we are important also. We do all the hard work bout we are all the way under paid. I wish the LPNs and RNs would take a stand an speak up with us to let Obama know we as CNAs need a raise.

I live in Washington State they say you can make 23,000 yr,BS!! We work now 4 days on 2 days off 7.5 hrs were lucky if you can get work 32 hrs a week We are housekeepers pass meds food service and activities laundry and were told every day were a dime a dozen I get paid better as housekeeper for the State I'm done working for small companies In view my it not worth being a CNA in the State of Washington I will not work for anyone else but state government at least they pay.

I am a CNA in Georgia at a LTCF and I make only 9.10 an hour and that is after 2 yearly raises . The pay is so low I can not even keep my bills paid . I have never worked so hard in my life for so little and with the section I work in we should also be getting hazard pay . We get hit . spit on , pinched , and everything else . I am in the process of trying to find something else be for I go crazy .

WOW. Im a CNA in Tucson Arizona and i make 13.25 STARTING. After youve been a CNA for a year or 2 depending on what facility youre at, it goes up. Not to mention that if you work in the evenings you get a 50 cent shift differential.

Well I'm curretly in Illinois, and I'm a DSP caregiver, which sucks. I'm currently looking into going back to school for a CNA certification. Which pay more than what im making, and im more so looking at the benefits. Which is very important to me. I've read everyone statements about CNA medical field, which I strongly agree with everyone. I just hope someone pays me $12-14 an hour.

I make 13.84 an hour...2 dollars more on the weekends in Nashville Tn. I have been a CNA for 20 yrs. Started off making 7 an hr in MI. There are some decent paying places in TN...but they pay more per years of experience. Vanderbilt hospital pays the best starting around 12 plus...Grace healthcare pays 16. Does anyone here know of places or agencies in NYC that have good pay???I am moving in a few weeks have signed up with several nursing agencies there. I heard they start around 14 plus...but they do not pay for experience...any info would be greatly appreciated.
