So, what is the starting pay and average pay for a RN in NorCal Bay Area? I'll be having surgery soon and will be hiring a nurse.

Last comment: While increases in minimum wages are being proposed in many states (ie 15/hr in Washington state) LPN/LVN pay is dropping. Work where you can until it levels off and then take a minimum wage job; less stress, far less risk and responsibility for the lives and safety of others, etc.
    I'm just saying....

I had a job for about 5 years that I left last year. I looked for work in the bay area for nine months. The pay rates have dropped substantially since I was last hired. With years of varied experience I was told repeatedly that "we start LVNs at" then they stated a number that was UNDER 20 dol/hr. Even the ones who claimed that compensation was DOE paid very little in the way of real compensation.
I was earning over 20/h over 20 years ago in the midwest when and where the cost of living was about half of what it is here and now.

It doesn't "beg the question". You might say that it evokes or raises the question. Begging the question means that it involves a logical fallacy. It's a form of circular reasoning. Please don't confuse me into looking for an argument that isn't indicated.
I agree that the question of where you should work is important.

An LPN can still find work, but our options and pay are diminishing. We live in a time when healthcare facilities are scrambling to save on costs, yet they're eliminating reasonable paying LPN jobs for higher paying RN's. I blame much of this on the RN Unions who have actively undermined the hard work LPN's have done, to secure higher wages and more jobs for their RN's to increase the Union coffers. It's sad, selfish, and doesn't even make sense from a financial standpoint. Yet the trend continues.

I'm an LVN who lives in Orange County, California, I have been looking for an LVN job since January 2009, I have not found a job yet, everyone wants at least a year's experience. Any suggestions?
