Geriatric Nurse
Geriatric Nurses, sometimes referred to as Gerontological Nurses, take care for older adults in psychiatric hospitals, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, and sometimes on an outpatient basis. This nursing specialty is expected to register strong job growth in the upcoming years as the number of people over 65 continues to increase. Geriatric nurses must have extensive knowledge of rehabilitation methods and maintain a comforting bedside manner.

Educational Requirements
RN license – In all States, the District of Columbia, and U.S. territories, students must graduate from an approved nursing program and pass a national licensing examination, known as the NCLEX-RN, in order to obtain a nursing license. Nurses may be licensed in more than one State, either by examination or by the endorsement of a license issued by another State. The Nurse Licensure Compact Agreement allows a nurse who is licensed and permanently resides in one of the member States to practice in the other member States without obtaining additional licensure.

Another great resource is the Aerospace Medical Association (www.asma.org) and the "Flight Nurse Society" ... a constituent organization of the parent AsMA ... initially founded as a USAF Flight Nurse section ... it now reflects an international membership of civilian and military flight nurses.
