Great news. Christian John Godfrey (my new grandson) was born this morning at 6:07 am, vaginally, with the help of an epidural. The L&D nurse could have been better at the time of delivery (much, much better), but the nurses afterward made up for a lot. He was 20.5 inches and 7 lbs 13 oz.
(We are friends with director of the place [Nurse-Midwife], so that will not happen to anyone else.)
He is adorable. Quiet. Only cried when taken from our warm, cuddly arms to have a bath. My son was horsing around with him (the 32 year old bachelor uncle) and Christian suddenly had a cute little smile and he ripped a loud one and filled his diaper.
My wife and I are trying to catch-up with sleep the rest of today. Tomorrow, we have friends coming over to help clean up tomorrow, so that my daughter and family do not have to stay in the motorhome in the backyard (that's not too bad, 34' Winnebago).
Will attach pictures when I get everything transferred.
Thank you for your well wishes and prayers.
Tom

Hope all is going well with you.
SUPER BUSY here. Daughter's 1st wedding anniversary today, baby is due in 7 days, just had electrician in for 2 days doing work (and he isn't finished yet), then I have to get my family to move all of the furniture to the corner of the rooms (every room), because tomorrow we start getting energy efficient windows installed to the entire house at once. In other words, I am surprized to have gotten this much time to play on the Internet :-)
I just had the electrician in doing a lot of re-wiring and up-grading of wires. Our house was build with "knob and tube wiring" Very old and can cause fires. Especially when accepting the loads that we put on them now.
So my bedroom alone, went from 9 old plugs, to 4-quads (16 plugs) and a single (18 plugs altogether.) With a/c, computers, rechargers, lamps, etc, etc. I figured that dropping $1200 into a good electric guy was much better than the pain and inconveinance of having my house burn down.
My daughter has appreciated it when I have re-positioned Christian a few times because he was on a nerve, or worse. She called me to her room one night and Christian was stretching from side-to-side and Ashley was nearly in tears. I oriented myself to Christian's positioning and rotated him back to a heads-down position. My daughter looked at me like I performed a miricale (it was then that I realized how bad she had really been hurting). They slept for the night.
All of this nursing and medical training hasn't gone totally to waste. I cared for pets before they died and can re-position the baby when needed (who knows, I might even deliver this baby, the way things are going).
Have a great week.
Tom

Hi Renee,
Thank you for the compliment. I think my kids may be on-board with your statement, not every sure if my wife would agree (unresolved issues from being survivor of physical, mental and sexual abuse as a child and unwilling to resolve them).
I do try to be sensitive to things like that. I even surprized myself one time when I sent my mother some roses. She said that she hadn't had any in about 30 years.
Don't mean to sound like a downer. My position as the rock is just feeling a little crumbly right now. Probably from all of the emotions swirling around here with my grandson coming.
Have a good evening and take care of yourself,
Tom

Hi Renee,
We indulged ourselves yesterday. Spread out the awning on the motorhome and put some tables under it. Had ordered 15-1.5 lb lobsters (cooked) to be delivered to the house, I had gotten about a dozen ribeye steaks on sale, a few pounds of Amish potato salad and 18 ears of corn.
Friends came over to celebrate Jay and Ashley's 1st Anniversery and we did some serious damage on that pile of food. Did not have to worry much about having room in the frig. Friends had come about 1:30 pm and were headed home about 10:30 pm (I had to throw them out, because I knew that mom had to get up at 5 am to go to work).
We love this woman and her two boys. Her ex was a turd, actually, still is. Anyway, she has raised the boys and worked her way the whole way. She is very smart. Jack of all trades. Works maintenance at a local nursing home, keeps bee hives, does crafts, has her own web-store for hand-made jewelry, grows her own vegatables, was the photographer at the kids wedding and even dried the bouquets from the wedding (I have no idea what else she does). You'll like this, she rides her own motorcycle with the local Christian motorcycle club.
So I gave her a little thrill yesterday. I bought my wife a dozen red roses and Jody a dozen yellow roses. She asked what that was about and I replied: "When was the last time someone gave you roses?" After a few seconds of silence (as she was thinking), I said: "That's why. You can't even remember the last time."
Yesterday was a good day all around.
Take care, I need to get off my butt and clean up the basement,
Tom
