About Me
My name is Stephanie, I am 23 years of age and I want to be a nurse with all my heart! My husbands in the USCG and we have a 2 year old boy named Aiden Michael, so I have put off starting until now, We are being transfered in May or June of this year, we won't know to where until about Jan or Feb time. When I find out where we will be shipped off to, I will pick the right school and begin an LPN program, from there I'd like to start working as an LPN while advancing via distance education. (LPN to RN, RN to BSN) Ive always wanted to be a nurse, my parents said since I was a little kid all I ever did was play nurse with my dolls and teddys. As I grew up, unfortunatley, many of my close family members found themselves troubled by diseases, cancers and other misfortunes. Pancratic cancer in my uncle, Malinoma cancer in my aunt, another aunt with anerysms, colon cancer, strokes, heart attacks, and much much more. My mother has always been called the backbone of our family like our guardian angel, she always spent every free minute helping them through their tough times, and I was always with her doing this. It felt so good to give them some relief in their most horrific times. What really drove my inspiration and passion into overdrive, was this angel in my eyes, (My mother) Went through like ignoring the doctors advising her to get surgery for her scoliosis since she was in her 20's because she wanted a family and no one would stop her. 4 kids later, and many many years later... Doctors told her that her spine had literally started wrapping around her vital organs and if she didn't have the surgery she'd die. She had a 13 hour major back surgery and to follow a wound the size of a softball on her abdomen. A nurse came to the house daily for some time to care for it, and taught me how to do it as well, then she began to come less and less ..letting me take over. She told me she was so impressed with my ability to catch on so quickly and not to be squeamish that I should start nursing school, but I was reluctant back then. I wanted to stay home with my mother as much as I could to make sure she was cared for.
