- About Me
- I am a 24 year old wife and mother of 2 precious little boys. My family is so important to me & they are what makes my world go 'round ;) I have worked as an LPN for 4 years now. I started out on a skilled nursing unit at a hospital in a town about 30 miles from here. Because I couldn't stand the drive I got a job at a pediatric office. Then I got a chance for a job at the hospital here in town & couldn't pass it up. I worked on the med-surg unit for a year and a half until my first baby was about 9 months old. The 12 hr shifts were not working with my little family so I went to work at a Federally Qualified Health Center, which is where I am still working PRN. After the birth of my second child this past December, I decided what the heck-life's too short not to enjoy your kids. So now we are poor and loving it. I hope to continue working prn until the boys are both in school. Then, maybe go back to a hospital, maybe get my RN?? Until then, I hope to be able to make some extra helping-out $$ doing medical transcription from my home. I just passed my MT course and have another interview tomorrow. It will be challenging to work with 2 under the age of 3 but I'll probably jus work after they go to bed...beats sending them to daycare if u don't have to. The thing that bothers me most about nursing is that there are so many types of jobs & specialties out there and I want to try them alll...

Hey there, sorry it took so long for me to respond. I am thinking about going back to nursing school..but my husband is in the Military so until I get settled somewhere and we aren't going to leave, I may hold off. My mum is a nurse and a mid-wife...so she helped me get interested in the field. I love medicine though.

Thanks for adding me, Sonja! It sounds like you have your priorities in just the right place! You'll be so glad you spent this time with your children! Glad to have met you!

I've only been in the OR for 6 weeks and I do love it. I worked on an acute care floor for 3 years and never really like doing that. I think I I have found my niche. You better watch out. The next thing you know your kids will be in high school. So enjoy them while they are small. It seems like only yesterday my daughter was toddling around and now she is in 8th grade and will be 14 in December.

Thanks for the invite. I don't blame you for wanting to stay home and enjoy your family. Kids just grow up too fast. Hope you have a great week.
