Any suggestions for a type of job that would be good for a student who has not had any nursing training as of yet in the hospital setting????

Here in NY there's all kinds of openings but I would imagine they're standard jobs. You can go for receptionist they often do dual jobs making appointments but also calling health care providers and filing. It'll give you an insight on how that's handled. There's now a web company that makes appointments for the docs and since you're apart of the medical world but not necessarily in the hospital they'll pay your tuition. Your best bet is to look for something customer service oriented and try to cross train when you get in. That's what I do no matter what job I'm at.

Thanks for the add! I just applied for a position at the gift shop in a hospital near me just to get my foot in the door. Try looking in career builder to see if they have any positions open or you can go onto the hospitals website and see if they have job postings there. Worse case you could volunteer for a bit until you get the idea of what it's like.
Did you decide on online schooling?

Any suggestions as to where a nursing student would work in a hospital type setting while in nursing school? I have a FT job now, but won't be able to keep it after about a year and would like to get my foot in the door before clinicals!

Ok....so I have no idea where to start! I want to complete an online degree, but am not sure which would be the best. I want to get into Ped's eventually, but am starting from the bottom as of now! Any advise or school suggestions...I guess the schools do not need to be local to St. Louis, MO.
