'Kidney Stone' Turns Out To Be a Baby

CARBONEAR, Newfoundland, Jan. 8 – A Newfoundland woman who went to a hospital complaining of kidney pain was shocked when she gave birth to a healthy baby boy soon after.
Juanita Stead, 36, was at a New Year’s Eve party when the pain started and escalated to the point where her husband, Terry, took her to the hospital in the eastern town of Carbonear for X-rays, the Carbonear Compass reported.
“The technician looked at me and said, ‘My dear, you’re pregnant with a full-term baby.’ And I said: ‘No sir, you got the wrong woman and you’re looking at the wrong screen. There is no way I’m pregnant,’” Stead told the newspaper.
She said her menstrual period hadn’t stopped, there wasn’t any morning sickness and she didn’t put on extra weight.
Her other son also made an unexpected arrival on July 30, 2006, at the couple’s home, Stead said. While she knew she was seven months pregnant, she was caught off guard.
“I felt like I had to go to the bathroom and out he popped, right into the toilet,” she said. “Terry actually scooped him out of the toilet and put him in my lap until the ambulance came.”

i am not amazed because we leave in an amaizing world .lets just say our GOD is a GOD of miracles and anything can happen even raising up the dead. so for GOD to do this he has a big plan and purpose with this baby thats why he took good care of this baby silently in her mothers womb even when the mother didnt realise it.

Don't think it isn't true too quickly...I took care of a patient as an L&D nurse who was pregnant, in labor, and thought it was a "kidney stone". She was young (about 19 or 20), NOT morbidly obese, and reasonably intelligent. She might have suspected she was pregnant but didn't want to be so I think she was in denial. This isn't the only such patient I cared for...you just never know.

I am not judging.....it is a nursing assesment. No one in the entire world can get to a Full-term pregnancy and not know it.....Stop kidding yourselves, this is obviously a hoax for attention. Or she is morbidly obese and cant feel whats going on in that oversized belly of her's. Get over it, people do this stupid publicity crap all the time....and if not....she is obese, plain and simple.

My friend adopted a baby this way! A young girl was passing through the state with her mother and they thought she was having appendix attack or something. Lo and behold: a beautiful boy! But as a mother of 5 children I find it hard to believe that neither mother knew they were pregnant. Unless there is a serious weight problem. I could feel life early. Maybe they though it was gas bubbles but what about the kicking and moving around? A comatose baby? I think it is denial myself.

God bless the bundle of joy who is healthy! What a blessing, an angel- May he have a wonderful healthy life BUT I do not believe it, It sounds like a story from one of those trash newspapers. She had a healthy baby boy- well I take it then it was of average weight yet she states she NEVER gained weight- how could that be. No feelings of life?, no breast changes? no line in the skin near the umbilicus? come on really, this is her second. By the way if she had a boy why you showing a baby in pink? I can't believe a site for intelligent R.N's would bother with such a story- really dissapointing.

EliteRN, what terrible, judgemental and horrible thing for a nurse to say.
A woman at my gym (nowhere NEAR obese) was 7 months pregnant with her second child when she went to the doc for constipation and found out the happy news. Strange things happen and WE of all people should not judge.

I am so disappointed that Nursing Link published this story. It left me with a feeling that this site in not as legitimate as I previously thought. I have recommended this site to so many nursing students because I always thought it gives them a good perspective of what's out there in the nursing world. This was like reading a story from the Enquirer.
