Coming Soon: The Nightmare From Up There
Source: Investor's Business Daily 7/2

In his recent speech to the American Medical Association, President Obama counseled Americans to beware "dire warnings about socialized medicine and government takeovers; long lines, and rationed care; decisions made by bureaucrats and not doctors." Unfortunately for the president, there are a few Cassandras whose warnings are worth heeding. Chief among them are the millions of Canadians who have received substandard care at the hands of a government-run health system. Before America emulates the Canadian model with a new trillion-plus-dollar health plan, it's worth examining whether government-run systems are all they're cracked up to be. As a Canadian by birth, I can assure you they're not.

The USA is not Canada. Our healthcare system is already in place and works quite well. Too many people mistake "Healthcare" with "Insurance". There is no healthcare crisis, only a financial crisis. All that needs to be changed is how healthcare is paid for. The Canadian one-payer system could work in the USA. Don't forget that Canada is a huge place with few people in most of it; healthcare in Yellowknife is very different from healthcare in Toronto. Also, doctors in Canada often come to the USA to make more money, leaving fewer doctors in Canada to care for patients. Where will USA doctors go? Mexico? Cuba? I don't think so. There are numerous factors at play when comparing different systems, not just whether they are government run or not. Something has to change. I am willing to try the Canadian system.

Every American already has access to healthcare regardless of their ability to pay, all they have to do is stop by, or get carted to their local ER.
Granted they aren't going to get elective surgery or a lot of preventive medicine for free, but then you aren't going to get those things with health care reform either.
The "HEALTH CARE CRISIS" is way overblown.

Every american deserves healthcare regaurdless if they can pay. It is sad that in this day and age that people lose their homes, do not seek treatment. Or have to bargin to eat this month or take their medication. But as long as the insurance companies keep making mega bucks there will not be any healthcare reform in this country.
