1. In this recession, you are more likely to keep your job.

A lot of people are losing their jobs right now, but it is disproportionately affecting us men. In February 2008 the unemployment rate for men and women who had gone to college but did not graduate was the same: 4.1 percent. Today it’s 8.9 percent for men but only 6.3 percent for women. That might be because for a long time discrimination kept women out of blue-collar jobs, the hardest hit by the current downturn. Women, it seems, are better prepared for the jobs of the new economy. Are we men now paying our karmic tab for keeping you out of these jobs in the past?
