It just cracks me up that because it is a male it is called an action figure. Not a collectable, not a figure or figurine or a doll, but an action figure. I guess female nurses are not action figures?

I recently saw this in the catalog and thought the very same thing as charlita; "Where's the female version". How convenient that it only comes in a male nurse action figure -which I think is a cute idea but what century are we in that both are not offered? You would think that the manufacturer would have considered this. And I will be curious to know, like cdnurse commented, whether they keep the title "action figure" if they do market a female nurse.) Strange...

This is GREAT, but I think historically speaking the female nurse SHOULD be the action figure! At least this way when our little boys are looking into medicine, they won't be laughed at for playing with a "doll". Great find cd...I do like it.

Okay... I do like this; finally men are also being recognized in nursing. I do understand the "action figure" thing, not to play down the role of the female nurse, but, until we can eliminate or significantly reduce the social stereotypes and prejudices, "nurse "will be associated as femininity and "action figures" will be associated with masculinity. Girls play with dolls and boys play with action figures. It is not a fair picture of reality, but because of social conditioning, that is how society views us. I am happy that male nurses are starting to be recognized.

This is awesome. I think it is great that male nurses are getting recognized but I also think it is odd that this company doesn't offer a female version. I just can't wait until the day when the word nurse only makes us think of the job and not the gender...

I think you should just look at it for what it is...a funny product. Women need to realize that it is the female of the nursing species that is commonly catered to with products like these. Is there a Lladro male nurse figurine? Has there ever been a male nurse on a stamp. Why still use the term "male nurse"? Why are the typical gifts made for nurses usually pink & girly? We're the minority in your world. Give us our action figure and enjoy the millions of things that belong to you.

Great gift for my son! My son is in nursing school and this is the only 'male nurse' product that I've seen so far this season!
