The first time I saw these emergency shears, my unit was doing few operational maneuvers with Germany's GSG9, their Tac Medic was using them on a practice manikin dressed in military gear. To see those shears in actions is amazing; it cuts through the toughest of leather, and military web gear like it was paper. After the maneuvers were done I asked the tac medic where he got his shears. He replied that it is standard equipment for all of German emergency service agencies. So I went out and got myself an “issued pair.” The first time I used it, it perform like a charm. I am still amazed that most Emergency Services Personnel that I know have not heard of it, they have seen mine, but am the extent of it. Now for those who know me, know that I carry them on every paramedic clinical that I do, the durability is guaranteed, and it weighs less than 1 pound (400 grams). I know the price is hefty, but oh so well worth it.
