We run into the same problem in Colorado, acuity of care is missing. 1 CNA cannot take care of 15 pt when 8 are 2 assist, and the nurse on the floor cannot be the second aide, do treatments, pass meds, do necessary charting, handle situations as they arise, and still get out without overtime. But then again, what do we know, we are only nurses right. This is a subject I bring up at every nurses meeting, and will continue to do so. Someone has to stand up for the pt care, and co-workers. All I hear back is "We are within the pt to staff ratio" and "budget constraints" I would rather Hear what can we do for the pt.......sorry had to vent

interesting that the catholic hospitals rated A's. Not that they are "catholic" per say, but all the hospitals used to be owned by the churches. Some now keep the names, but are really cooperations. I miss the penquins. They were great nurse and pt advocates, not allowing the admin to run pt care. Do you know cd nurse if these are really catholic hospitals? Do they have nuns working there?
