A Las Vegas man says his Henderson physician turned him into a drug addict and caused him to overdose by prescribing him as many as 1,170 narcotic painkillers in a single month. The prescriptions by Dr. Kevin Buckwalter were so extreme, and the documen

I agree with ShortyLakes. Dr Feltoon was an honorable man. He was 85 and a bit senile and lost a lef and that, Jimmyjam Loser, is why you targeted him. You probably even changed the amount on the script.

WOW IF YOU ARE A DRUG ADDICT IT IS YOUR FAULT DON'T BLAME DR. FELTOON FOR GIVING YOU MEDICATION. YOU OBVIOUSLY KNEW WHAT YOU WERE GETTING PRESCRIBED AND IF YOU WERE SOO CLEAN YOU AS A PATIENT HAD THE RIGHT TO SEEK A SECOND OPINION AND NOT GET THE SCRIPTS FILLED.. I JUST LOVE WHEN PEOPLE TRY TO BLAME DOCTORS FOR THEIR DRUG ADDICTIONS.. I BET YOU DIDN'T TELL DR. FELTOON YOU WERE CLEAN FOR 9YRS SO DON'T DISRESPECT HIM. HE WAS A GREAT DOCTOR TO ME. I SEEN HIM FOR PAIN MANAGEMENT AND OTHER REASONS AND HE HAD GREAT BED SIDE MANNER AND ACTUALLY CARED ABOUT HIS PATIENTS. SO IF YOU ARE A DRUG ADDICT BLAME YOURSELF BECAUSE I BET WHETHER HE GAVE YOU PRESCRIPTIONS OR NOT YOU WOULD OF WENT ELSEWHERE TO GET THEM AND HE DIDNT HOLD A GUN TO YOUR HEAD TO BE HIS PATIENT!!!

I was involved with a dr. ervin feltoon in new jersey who was supposed to be a pain management doctor? He knew I was 9 Years clean & sober and gave me over 1000 pills amonth with the likes
of these meds 300ea. 40 mg. methadone tabs 120 ea. percocet 10mg. 120 ea Vicodin tabs and 150 2mg. Xanax It almost killed me but I am back in the rooms of AA and just celebrated 1 year sober so my advice Is That any doctor who supplies an ex-addict pain meds should lose his license

Anymore it is like a revolving door in a doctor office. They like to just give you anything to get you out the door. Any doctor should be educated enough to know better. It is an easy fix to write a prescription.

Doctors do not want to take the time with there patients so they just "give them the pill". This is so they will be left alone to be able to play golf other activities they enjoy.

A lot of time these doctors don't even take time to get to know their patient, unless it becomes critical, that is when Dr. A or Dr. C, will visit the patient trying to look good infront of the family, who are you fooling. don't get me wrong, there are tons of wonderful doctors, and tons of not so wonderful doctors. unfortunately this is the world that we live in where how much we make takes presidency over the amount of time we take making sure our job makes a different in the lifes of those in our care.

It may be true that there are lot of folks out there abusing Rx pain meds , but what about the percent of folks that are truly in chronic pain, and are not abusing thier meds and only wants to live thier life with some type of quality to it. No one should have to go around in a constant state of misery, only because of what someone else thinks they should be able to tolerate. Pain can be a very debilitating thing, and can cause a person to not want to live in that state. And it's even worse when your'e a mother with little one's depending on you for their needs. I was diagnosed with polymyalgiarheumetica(a large muscle autoimmune disorder). The constant pain drained me,kept me in the bed 75-80% of the time, and I had came to the point where I just didn't want to go on anymore. Not me at all. Iv'e always loved life and have been very independent as well. But the pain I was having had reduced me to a vegetable-like state. Finally, after wading through a multitude of doctors that only wanted to push off anti-psychotic,and anti-depressant drugs on me, I finally found a very professional physician, that was aware and understood what I was going through. He is not a pill pusher. He only deals with patients who have chronic pain, and they do random drug screening to make sure your'e not using street drugs, or taking any other narcotics not prescribed. If it wasn't for him I would surely be dead by now. My life took on a 360 degree turnaround. I was able to get up out of the bed, and start living my life again. I've been taking the same amount milligrams for over ten years without having to increase at all.So everyone that has to take pain medication is not looking for a quick high, or wants to abuse them. Besides that, street drugs are so easy to get. True addicts dont spend their time sitting in dr's offices, and drive to the pharmacy to fill the prescription, they go straight to the street. I say thumbs up to true pain doctors, who truly want to help the patient with a chronic pain condition, do so with dignity and respect, so that the patient can have some dignity and respect and not resort to suicide or the local street drug dealer for help.

I have seen this so many times especially from some of the "pain clinics". The docs get them hooked because they don't want to listen to them complain about their pain and then drop them and then the detox units get them. People need to be aware and some of our profession need to also be aware that there are patients out there who abuse their meds. Everytime I hear a pain specialist say "pain is what the patient says it is" I just want to scream. They mean well but they don't meet people day after day who have never had a headache they would rate less than 10 out of 10 on the pain scale.

This is a problem you hear about ALOT!!!! I know one lady we admitted for detox was getting 120 Methadone 10, 120 hydrocodone 10, klonopin, and ambien. What is so bad I didn't list the antipsychotics she is on!!!! Yes it is everywhere and no many of the MDs will write , but when the pt is out they end up turning to the streets..

Again wonderful and interesting topic.
and I again have found the answers and would say the nurse prescribing medication in this case would have done a better job........why
It is noted that these addictive meds are also life threatening if not managed properly so the doctor should not have given him aa month supply instead 15 tablets which would have reduced the likelyhood of overdosing and the patient becoming addictive.
this topic also points back to the incompetence of the doctor and his mani[pulation of the patient by making him addictive the patient would be coming back for more and the doctor in this case aould be considered a common drug dealer a doctor who uses his profession only to fatten his pocket rather than to serve the needs of others.
It furthur points to the schooling and liscening of the doctors strict rules and guidelines should be developed to prevent these outrageous doctors whose practices harm rather than cure and it should start with rigourous training testing and counselling of doctors before they enter there profession.
