Tonight beings the end of an era. The hit medical drama, “ER,” will begin its 15th and final season tonight. It is NBC’s second longest-running drama (after Law and Order) and is the longest running medical drama of all time. Originally created by best-selling novelist, Michael Crichton, “ER” was not only lauded for its writing and acting, but for its real-to-life emergency scenarios. Set in the emergency room of the fictional County General Hospital in Cook County, Chicago, “ER” helped launch the careers of George Clooney, Julianna Margulies, Anthony Edwards, Noah Wyle and many others.

In the minutes following last season’s finale, multiple departments spring into action to deal with the aftermath of the shooting. A bound and intubated Luka and a bleeding Abby are found, but is it in time to save their baby? Meanwhile, the surgical team fights to repair Jerry’s injuries. Steve and his partners, with a kidnapped Sam and Alex, flee north, but circumstances force deadly action.
