TUESDAY, Oct. 14 - The death rate at top-ranked U.S. hospitals is 70 percent lower than at the lowest-ranked hospitals, according to a study that examined 41 million patient records at the nation's approximately 5,000 hospitals over three years.

    No where does it state in this article some of the reasoning to this is because smaller hospitals do not have the equipment such as CT scan, MRI, modern lab equipment the larger, better funded hospitals have. It's very one sided
