CARBONEAR, Newfoundland, Jan. 8 – A Newfoundland woman who went to a hospital complaining of kidney pain was shocked when she gave birth to a healthy baby boy soon after.

Juanita Stead, 36, was at a New Year’s Eve party when the pain started and escalated to the point where her husband, Terry, took her to the hospital in the eastern town of Carbonear for X-rays, the Carbonear Compass reported.

“The technician looked at me and said, ‘My dear, you’re pregnant with a full-term baby.’ And I said: ‘No sir, you got the wrong woman and you’re looking at the wrong screen. There is no way I’m pregnant,’” Stead told the newspaper.

She said her menstrual period hadn’t stopped, there wasn’t any morning sickness and she didn’t put on extra weight.

Her other son also made an unexpected arrival on July 30, 2006, at the couple’s home, Stead said. While she knew she was seven months pregnant, she was caught off guard.

“I felt like I had to go to the bathroom and out he popped, right into the toilet,” she said. “Terry actually scooped him out of the toilet and put him in my lap until the ambulance came.”

OK, based on the fact that she had her first baby in the toilet - this lady has some serious problems with denial or not knowing her own body.

Oh how funny! A site for nurses, assessment, looking, the story is about a lady with two BOYS, but the picture is of a baby in pink, and various ones have referred to what a beautiful baby girl and etc... I think some read the story, didnt look at the pic, and others skimmed through the story and looked at pic and assumed a girl? Hmmm i wonder what we have here Dr Watson?

These stories are becoming very common. I have my doubts sometimes ? Could it be denial. I can remember a former client claims she had her period the first five days of the month and on the tenth day had a 8lbs 9ozs baby. This lady had a baby waiting to celebrate its fist baby later in the very month.

I was told that I had a tumor. On December20,1988 I gave birth to a 4'10" little girl. She was born in the bathroom. I only gained 5lbs. with her. She is now 20 and a mother of a 2 yr. old little boy. This is not as rare as people may think it is.

I have heard of such cases before, though they are very rare. The woman could have had a retroverted uterus and if the baby was really small, she may have never noticed.

I think her popping out her first child into the toilet seems a little ridiculous though.

Wow, I went to school with a friend 15 yrs ago who didn't know she was pregnant. She started having abdominal pain and her father took her to ER only to find out his teenager gave birth to a girl. What a surprise! I have to say knowing her and being close she was apple shaped but not overly obese, and did not have a full term look to her. SHe kept the baby with the families help.
I think there are things in the world and our bodies that we can't explain but they usually are for the God's good.
