CARBONEAR, Newfoundland, Jan. 8 – A Newfoundland woman who went to a hospital complaining of kidney pain was shocked when she gave birth to a healthy baby boy soon after.
Juanita Stead, 36, was at a New Year’s Eve party when the pain started and escalated to the point where her husband, Terry, took her to the hospital in the eastern town of Carbonear for X-rays, the Carbonear Compass reported.
“The technician looked at me and said, ‘My dear, you’re pregnant with a full-term baby.’ And I said: ‘No sir, you got the wrong woman and you’re looking at the wrong screen. There is no way I’m pregnant,’” Stead told the newspaper.
She said her menstrual period hadn’t stopped, there wasn’t any morning sickness and she didn’t put on extra weight.
Her other son also made an unexpected arrival on July 30, 2006, at the couple’s home, Stead said. While she knew she was seven months pregnant, she was caught off guard.
“I felt like I had to go to the bathroom and out he popped, right into the toilet,” she said. “Terry actually scooped him out of the toilet and put him in my lap until the ambulance came.”

As crazy as this sounds it indeed also happened to my grandmother when pregnant with my mom. Now lets be honest, my grandmother was not a small woman weight wise and claimed to have very irregular periods so I guess none of this meant much in clueing her in to a pregnancy. But off to the doctors she went with stomach pain and came back with my mom. So yes these things do happen, I just cant believe my grandma or this lady didn't know. BTW my aunt and my mom are 18 yrs apart, so maybe my grandma really thought it was just heartburn. LOL

"magical, so cool, wow" I have some land to sell you. Apparently , since this was her 2nd pregnancy, there should be a check on her short/long term memory. How can someone mistake the glory of pregnancy, the movement ,the weight gain/change/breast engorgement???Apparently this is agirl, yes girl, in an unstable relationship who did not share the pregnancy with her partner, or, God forbid, someone with very unpleasant thoughts of the conception....as for the comments , is this not a site for RNs???

That's magical! I believed that not every part in this world could be explained by our robotic world. Let this issue remain to be mystery. Congratulations.. You're blessed with an angel!

Good story! That's weird that she didn't manifest the symptoms related to pregnancy... Poor baby! Got to be scooped out of the toilet... At least he's healthy!

Are you serious??? You didn't know??? I have had two beautiful full-term babies, and there was no way for me NOT to know. If pregnancy is that easy, sign me up for another term! Congratulations!

Everyone is individual. Don't think just because you experienced something the next person does.
She had no weight gain, no morning sickness nor did menstruation stop. Now, put yourself in her place and tell me you can't understand this.

Oh how denial can be such a powerful "faith". There are many stories just like this...which leads me to question if we are paying less attention to our bodies (because what ever happened to the good ol' days of looking at someone and saying, 'ah yes, you are pregnant') or if we are still in the mind set of "I'm not ready to be pregnant" (but when is there ever the 'right time' to being pregnant). Lets be logical about this one; if we are having sex, no matter the precautions being taken, there is always the chance of pregnancy.

Congratulations on the new baby even if you did not know. I just could not see that how someone could not know that they are pregnant. It just does not make sense.

Lol the baby popped right into the toilet!?! You've got to be kidding me. We've all heard the jokes about the doctor squatting in front of you with a catcher's mitt. I guess in this case they really could've.

What in the world??? I have heard of cases like this where the mom states that she "doesn't know she is pregnant" As a mother myself I can not believe it. Sorry just don't buy it. I remember the first time I ever felt my daughter move and saw her movement with my own eyes. I understand that every pregnancy is different not every mother gains a lot of weight and may have a montly cycle, but come on. If someone "knew they were pregnant" they would get worried if they did not feel their baby move at some point. For this person to say she did not know she was pregnant yet delieved a FULL TERM BABY. I really hope she was not drinking at that party.
