Formerly Conjoined Twins Remain in Critical Condition

OKLAHOMA CITY – Twin girls remain in critical condition following surgery to separate the formerly conjoined infants.
The twins were separated on Monday by surgeons at Children’s Hospital at the University of Oklahoma Medical Center during an operation that lasted a little more than three hours.
Preslee Faith Wells and Kylee Hope Wells had been joined at the chest since they were born on Oct. 25. Hospital spokesman Allen Poston said Tuesday they were listed in critical condition in the hospital’s neonatal intensive care unit.
The surgery involved splitting the girls’ livers and a tissue bridge that connected them. Doctors have said the twins have a good chance of survival because they had separate hearts and did not share any major blood vessels.
The girls are believed to be the first known American Indian conjoined twins.

Let us keep those girls in our prayers so they can make it through this critical period.
