Nurses Welcome President's Call for Comprehensive Health Reform
PRNewswire
February 26, 2009
The IOM noted that many companies are dumping full-time positions, and replacing them with part-time, contract, and temporary jobs that don’t offer health benefits. Also, more and more areas around the country are experiencing severe problems with limited hospital access to emergency care and in-patient bed capacity as the result of the growing number of uninsured and underinsured Americans.
The solution is a single-payer system, as in expanding and upgrading Medicare, our more effective, comprehensive existing medical program, to cover everyone. A Medicare-for-all bill, HR 676, has been recently reintroduced in the House.
A CNA/NNOC research study issued last month also noted that Medicare for all would also promote economic recovery by creating 2.6 million new jobs, infuse $317 billion in new business and public revenues, and inject another $100 billion in wages into the U.S. economy, according to the study by the Institute for Health and Socio-Economic Policy (IHSP), research arm of CNA/NNOC. The study may be viewed at http://www.calnurses.org/.
While 30 percent of the new jobs would be in health and social services, the ripple effect of job creation goes throughout the economy, with gains in retail trade, accommodation and food services, manufacturing, and administrative services, as well as healthcare.
CNA/NNOC represents 85,000 RNs in all 50 states, and is a founding member of the newly formed United American Nurses-NNOC.

I think there will be a higher number of Americans who will bankrupt as a result of higher taxes, unemployment. When people started living on credit cards, living in houses they cant afford, and there is moral decay all around us. I think they need to prove where they got that 119 percent increase in premiums. The Obama Nation leaders just say whatever they want to with no shred of proof. If they prove these percentages, fine..............they just print what they want just like the dollars they recently printed in the US mint, its only our great grandchildren who will be paying for the dollar value decrease on a global scale. I was thinking of the countries that went bankrupt..........Argentina, Russia. They borrowed so much more than they knew they could pay back. What are we going to do when China calls in the loans we owe them? China is the 3rd richest country probably, and they will be owning us eventually.

Along with increased taxes for the rich, money handouts to those who shouldn't be in million dollar homes, bank bail outs, and forecing abortion skills on medical personel that don't want to learn, we have socialzed medicine. What next, dictating what my children will do for a life long career? Socialist...communism, at it's best. Lennon would be proud of Obama!
