The House liberal leadership touted its sweeping health care reform plan Tuesday. But the moderate Blue Dogs could be heard barking in the distance. The legislation includes big tax surcharges on the rich, a public plan and fines on employers that fail to provide coverage and individuals that don't get it.

    It happens that I work for a home health company, among other jobs I do, privately owned, and 90% of the staff are independent contractors. I really don't see my employer happy to provide health coverage, let alone raise salaries. So it is a double whammy for I can see them lowering the wages if they will be forced to provide health coverage.

    The House is also proposing an increase in Medicare payments to primary care providers. Reducing payments for unnecessary admissions is long over due.

    The public option will reduce the cost of doing business for corporate America. Corporate America knows it, but won't admit it because they would rather pay for health care than raise wages, which have stagnated for 20 years.

    The situation can go both ways. Either everyone will oblige or the rich and the business owners will take their businesses and money overseas even more.
