People who seek the services of auto mechanics want car repair, not "auto care." Similarly, most people who seek the services of medical doctors want body repair, not "health care." We own our cars, are responsible for the cost of maintaining them, and decide what needs fixing based partly on balancing the seriousness of the problem against the expense of repairing it. Our health-care system rests on the principle that, although we own our bodies, the community or state ought to be responsible for paying the cost of repairing them. This is for the ostensibly noble purpose of redistributing the potentially ruinous expense of the medical care of unfortunate individuals.

It has been "every man for himself" for a while now. And for some of us, unfortunate enough to be born in a socialistic country, it has been like this for as long as I remember. It is the jungle law, you must be strong and powerful to survive.

Social Darwinists would be proud. To hell with people, the all mighty dollar is king! Nothing is more important than profit, not even the health of the people whose work generates it. Society has no obligations to care for its members.

Even John Locke would be ashamed. The Founding Fathers believed that public service was a duty of the rich. Now it's every man for himself, according to the Wall Street Journal.

    Pathetic.
