Isn't there SOME type of assistance this young woman would qualify for? Can she not even get Section 8 housing or at least some help to get a studio aparment or a hotel type of room? Why is it that people such as her who are really trying to make something of themselves NEVER seem to qualify for any help??? Yet there are people who are drug addicts (by choice some of the times) who qualify for SSI and other aid? This is just a sad story about how America does NOT take care of the people in THIS country!!! She should definitely be PROUD of herself but also should seek some assistance for herself and her counselors at school should be trying to find her some help! I would think that they could at LEAST find her a room in a Dormitory - she should qualify for that considering how much she is paying (or going to pay) for her education. Some monies from a student grant/loan or scholarship could pay to rent her a studio apartment or a room in someone's home!!! I CAN'T imagine trying to study and go to school without having somewhere to call home!!! I admire her courage and dedication and as a Nurse myself I KNOW how difficult school can be!!! Maybe printing this article in the Manteca Bulletin will prompt someone in the Medical Community to help this girl out!!! All I can say is HANG I THERE and you go Girl!!!!!

That is pretty interesting. When I was going through school, there was a student who also was homeless. She lived in her car. She had about 10 friends who knew she was homeless, the rest of the students did not know. The friends who knew, let her shower and wash cloths at our homes and appartments and in the winter when it was extremely cold, she took turns staying at our homes. She worked a part time job as a waitress and refused our offers of money to help her out. She graduated and is working in the same hospital I am. this just goes to show you that no matter what your situation, you can make it if you really put your mind to it.
