Man overdoses, Stabs nurse

I am outraged that news items like this are hidden and quieted...I had to dig down into this website to learn of the latest episode of ED Violence. ED nurses and physicians are on the firing line and vulnerable to any violence incursion in the ED. This ED has no metal detectors AND no method to search and seize contraband that enters the ED daily via patients, visitors, family... I am the author of a book entitled Violence in the ED: Tools and Strategies to Create a Violence-Free ED for this very reason. NO ONE is talking about ED violence and no one is championing the safety and security of the ED, its nurses and physicians. Did you know that this this week is "ED Nurses Week"? When will Nurses be protected from such nonesense? If this happened to a gov't official, or police officer - The world would stop.
