How do I combine my 20+ years in the fitness industry as teacher/trainer, yoga instructor, guest speaker/presenter, and now "late bloomer" RN.  I currently teach side jobs in fitness w/hospital employees but am looking to blend my passions.  What state offers the best opportunity for this?  Ideas suggestions...

Thx so much Gitano!  I'm eager to connect w/other like-minded "healthy" nurses.  I noticed however that Fitness isn't even mentioned in the group as a topic for "Healthy Nurses"...that which we/I advocate for when caring for our patients.

Hi! I love your post about fitness. And I am glad someone was observant to notice that Fitness hadn't been a topic here. Thanks for bringing the roundedness of fitness to the discussion, since my experience isn't in fitness.

I am currently finishing up a course through Wellcoaches for health professionals. I will be certified as a Health and Wellness Coach through the ACSM after finishing the class, and then doing what it takes to pass the certification. I have had a business as a health and wellness coach for over a year now, but I am working on the extra credentials. There are so many opportunities open to nurses because we are health educators already. This is such a good fit.

I am working at the hospital tonight, and had a little time to look over this topic. I had started this group about a year ago, and after some complications with my son (almost losing him) back from Iraq with PTSD, I just sort of lost my way with the social networking. It had been a strength for me, but I just felt myself pulling into a little shell, but I am wanting to get back here, and help make this area a strength for nurses.

I think the area of nurse coaching is so new. Some insurance companies hire nurse coaches. But, for the most part, most nurse coaches are entrepreneurs, like myself. I would love to talk more with you!  Good luck in working a way to tie all your loves and experiences together.

Thanks, like I said, I have been in a fog... children can do that to you. I am ready to get back in with both feet, and really promote healthy nurses, and healthy nurses helping others get healthy. And I thank you so much for pointing out the need for the fitness.

I strongly believe in the mind, body, spirit connection. I have been working really hard to launch my new website. It isn't finished yet (colors, background theme, and all the background work, but you can get a peek at www.poweruphealthcoaching.com

Joyce (and thanks for the encouragement)
