The education system has changed a lot. Its has been to a point where every thing has to be practically done. I don't think theory is so important.Medical institutes and many universities has started high qualified LPN program to promote nursing certification courses as it is a good career option.

Which ever best fits a nurses interest and desires!

There is nothing like specializing in something you have little or no interest in even though many say it's a great area. So go with what you desire and long to be.

The best nursing specialty, is whatever you feel called to. For some the best is psych nursing. For others it is L&D. For others it is Oncology.

The best is what each person is gifted for...

I would have to say it is where you can get, and keep, a job.

So, you would really suggest getting and keeping a job, no matter what that job is, even if it isn't a good fit? I personally wouldn't want to know I had to get a job and keep it if it wasn't a good fit for me. This is why so many nurses are burned out. They took a job just because it was the only one there at the time. How heartbreaking to see nurses get burned out and leave nursing because they didn't take time to see where their passion is, and really know where they fit. No one should have to stay in a position where they don't really want to work.

You are correct Joyce. Why work in a job you do not like? Especially in nursing where the different types of specialties and different jobs within these specialties exist.

And that is exactly why I gave my notice recently. My coaching business isn't ready to handle me full time yet, but I just couldn't go on any longer in the capacity where I was. It was draining me.
