Hello, Im 27 and Im thinking seriously about becoming a RN. Right now I am a nanny and have been for 6 years. Any feedback from anyone would be great. I have just a couple of questions. Is it really enjoyable? What do I need to do to prepare myself for school? Its been 9 years since school. Im a bit nervous on my studing skills after so long. Should I do the LPN first or just go straight for the RN program? Thanks alot for our help and Have a great day!!

As far as LPN or RN-that's up to you. You could become a LPN first-try that on for size and see how it fits. You can always go on to become a RN later. It depends on you and how much time you have to invest. As a nanny-you have alot of experience in the right direction. Taking care of others. Maybe you'd prefer pediatric nursing. I went back to school when I was 30 and my brain felt fried. But it doesn't take long to get into the swing of things again especially of you're motivated. As far as being enjoyable-it's the worst job you'll ever love. Seriously, it is extremely rewarding. It's hard work and frustration too. And there's alot of sadness involved. I always suggest to anyone thinking of nursing to become a CNA first. The school isn't that long and you can get a feel for nursing. If you find you like it you can go on to becoming a RN. However the pay for CNAs is low and might not be up to your usual standards as a nanny. Whatever you decide-best of luck!
