Posted almost 3 years ago Here is an article I wrote recently for tips on working night shift:
http://www.poweruphealthcoaching.com/?p=253 Not spam, I promise. I thought when I copied and pasted, the entire article would show up... Anyway, it is from personal experience, and ideas I got from some research I did... Joyce Joyce Harrell, RN, OCN

| Posted almost 3 years ago Thanks! Hope this helps someone! Working nights can be tricky on our sleep and our health! We have to stay top notch condition to not only do the physical work, but as nurses we are constantly "giving" of ourselves. We as nurses needed to really consider how we care for ourselves! We have to be top of the list for self-care, so that we WILL have something to give to others. Joyce Harrell, RN, OCN

| Posted almost 3 years ago Good article, I worked night shift for a couple of years and gained alot of weight. I also felt lousy pretty much all the time. The suggestions are very good and I utilized most of them. My body just does not like staying up all night. |

| Posted almost 3 years ago Thanks! I think most bodies don't like night shift. It is just against the natural circadian rythym of the body.I think that is why it is so important to make sure that we take as many measures as possible to ensure the continuance of health during this time. My goal is to get off nights, and working to do that by next year. Joyce Harrell, RN, OCN
