Nursing and Moving Patients

Posted almost 3 years ago Dear medical professionals on Nursing Link, I am an industrial design student who is researching about nurses and moving patients for school. I have been reading through forums searching for people’s comments on their experiences with moving and lifting patients. After learning about the hardships you encounter on a daily basis, I have developed an even deeper respect for your profession. I want to redesign the way lifts are used to make it safer and easier for both the nurses and the patients. I would really appreciate it if some of you could fill out a survey to help me find a direction to redesign them. Also any comments about your previous experiences with lifts or your thoughts about them would be greatly appreciated in this forum post. I apologize if the questionnaire is a little compact, since survey monkey only allows 10 questions. Also 7 and 10 force you to pick no, but there is a comment section that I will count as yes. I hope this is the right place to put this. http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/XR632VW Please feel free to forward this to anyone you think would be able to help.
Thank you,
Brian |

| Posted almost 3 years ago Brian, I am very impressed that you have taken the time to research and reach out to help a whole other profession do their job more safely and getting their input. I would love to see a lift that could get into the sometimes closet sized bathroom and be able to transfer them without infecting the lift or the cloth that covers it. The same goes for transfering a patient into a shower chair. Too many times, they get soiled or wet and cannot be used for the next patient and are so expensive that only a limited number of them can be purchased. Best of luck to you, Roberta, RN |
