Posted almost 3 years ago Hello everyone, I'm new here my name is Bri'sha Webb, and I just graduated from high school in June. I'm attending Sam Houston State University in the fall. My questions are what are some of the top nursing schools to go to? How did any of ya'll survive nursing school? I hear its treacherous. :) My main question is how do you prepare for the long hours and shifts without burning-out? I have alot of questions, because I'm anxious to get started in my career. I want to pursue a neonatal career any advice?

| Posted almost 3 years ago Take a deep breath and take things one at a time. Nursing school is tough, but not impossible. Study hard, seek help from your professors when you need to, set goals and have prorities. For me, the hours and experience during clinicals did not compare to being on the floor. Appreciate your clinical experience and learn all you could. Lots of hospitals have preceptorship programs set up for new nurses. When you start working, make sure you work somewhere that has a good preceptorship/internship or residency program. this will allow you to work along with an experienced nurse for a few months to help you transition from student nurse to working nurse. The work hours are long, but in time you get used to it and you learn to adjust. In terms of shifts, figure out which shifts work best for you or your lifestyle.. There's day shift, evening and night shift.. In time you will learn and adjust. You want to be a neonatal nurse, Go for it! Learn all you can about this area of nursing.. As time goes a long, your aspirations may change, but that's for you to determine in and of yourself. Take things one at a time - ROME WAS NOT BUILT IN A DAY! I wish you success...and let no one tell you what you can or cannot do! |
