Posted almost 3 years ago I will be taking Anatomy & Physiology and Statistics this fall. I'm sure that I will continuously use the AP book, so I'll probably need to buy it. But what about the statistics book. Should I buy or rent? Thanks for your response.

Posted almost 3 years ago I would rent any books that you don't believe that you wouldn't use again. At the school I attend we have a club for non-traditional students that students can barrow books for the term. I obtained most of my books this way but still purchased my AP books as well as will purchase my Microbiology book but will either barrow or rent my other books that are for my general ed classes.

Posted almost 3 years ago Have you checked some of the websites that sell new & used books? The downside is waiting for the book to arrive.Once you are registered you should be able to find out the books you need, giving you time to send for it. My daughter signed up for summer school, last minute.we ordered the book she needed for $25 on line..It took 2 weeks to come.so we ended up buying it in an off campus book store for $132. the same book was $150 @ the campus bookstore. As with all things, it pays to compare prices, if you have the time..

Posted almost 3 years ago Sometimes renting can be more expensive than buying used, so check into both and do whatever is cheaper. I always find great deals on Ebay, but buy in advance so you don't have too much competition around the start of the semester. A lot of my friends use Chegg.com for renting, but I have never gone that route.

Posted almost 3 years ago I am renting my books this semester. I am also completing ANP but those books and info change so frequently that referencing it later may not be worthwhile since some of the info may be outdated. My campus bookstore rents textbooks. You might want to check with your campus as well. I will be saving hundreds of dollars by renting, but I agree with previous posters that you should comparative shop. ~ Laugh as much as you breath and love as long as you live ~

Posted almost 3 years ago Hey Aisha and Yaz, Are you in the middle of A&P or planning to take it? Reason being... I have a brand new set of textbooks for A&P that I did not need and waited too long to return. Still in the plastic. I am trying to donate them if its the right ISBN number (??) I took A&P II Fall 09. I'm at work, but when I get home, I will look at this book and give a better description.

Posted almost 3 years ago Hi....I am taking ANP I this semester, which starts Aug 23, and am taking II in the spring semester. I am already registered for both semesters. Are your texts for ANP II, I or both? I have 3 different ISBN #'s for books related to ANP, they are 9780558260903, 9780805395914 and 9780805395693. Ineed to do some research because I'm not sure which one of these I actually need. LOL ~ Laugh as much as you breath and love as long as you live ~

Posted almost 3 years ago For my A&P1 and 2 classes it has been the same books. The first is text book which was used for the lectures, then I had two more books for the lab class. One was the actually lab book and the other was like a lab "workbook". Go your first day to the class and find out what the professor actually says about the books. He/she might tell you that you need this or that or that you need all three. Even thought I got all three for my classes I really only needed the text book and the lab book. The workbook I only used like the first couple of weeks in A&P1 and never used it again.

Posted almost 3 years ago Definately shop around. I was told of a site www.collegebooksdirect.com it seems to be pretty reasonable on prices. Good Luck!

Posted almost 3 years ago Amazon.com is also a really good site for books and workbooks. Prices are subject to change, though.

Posted almost 3 years ago I don't know about renting books, we didn't do that, but most of my books were used. They have the greatest crib notes written in them.. The proce was abou 1/4-1/3 of the regular new price..

Posted almost 3 years ago Update: I went to my school's bookstore and found out that the Anatomy & Physiology book is customized for the school. So looks like I'll have to buy it.

Posted almost 3 years ago That' something I can look into. Usually the bookstore has used copies but they don't have any for this one because this edition came out in May.

Posted almost 3 years ago Yeah, went to the bookstore two days ago only to find out that even though the school's website says I can rent the books I need, I actually cannot because "you can't go by what the website says". That's nice. That was an extra $250.00. Thank God for grants! ~ Laugh as much as you breath and love as long as you live ~

Posted almost 3 years ago Gitano, I understood what you meant. I'm not saying that money isn't a issue (but the book fairy will wave her magic wand ..LOL) and I'll be able to purchase my books. Just was trying to purchase it for less than the bookstore price. If not for the fact that it is customized for the school I could purchase elsewhere and for less. However, at the end of the semester, I'll be able to recoup some of the cost because I can sell it back to the bookstore.
