Posted almost 3 years ago Hi all, I'm comsidering an ADN-MSN program. I wanted to know are there any restrictions for choosing this route? I want to become a CRNA and I see where programs say BSN minimum, so I would like to assume that my MSN would work...HOWEVER I know what is said about assuming? :) Basically does anyone know of ANY restrictions a nurse would have to face (education/career) due to choosing an ADN-MSN pathway?

Posted almost 3 years ago I actually have done some research on this at Florida Atlantic University. They have a RN-BSN and a RN-MSN programs. When I read into the RN-MSN program it mentioned it takes longer then the BSN-MSN program because you earn your BSN and your MSN and upon graduation you actually receive both degrees. So I would suggest checking into the school that your looking at to see what exactly their RN-MSN program is.

Posted almost 3 years ago That is a really good question. I think a lot of people would be asking how can you get a MSN without a BSN but as you see you can but how does that affect a nurse in the practical world is really your question. Wish I had an answer.

Posted almost 3 years ago Hi Guys, Maybe I can shred some light on your question as I have a BS degree am in the MSN portion of the RN to MSN degree. I had to complete course work that the BSN student would complete but because I didn't get a second bachelor's I am not qualified for the "BSN" however, I couldn't get into the program without the coursework. On my apps, I put the info in the area by my section for school - "Completed BSN course work May 2009 and people have been fine with it. What is your specific concern?

...the school Im looking into does not award the BSN in their program which in turm lies my concern. If I have a MSN but no BSN does that hurt me at all?
