Posted almost 3 years ago ... and I don't mean those you treat in the clinical area. Hey guys-- I have just spent a couple hours fighting a potential Trojan/virus/malware called "Antimalware Doctor." Has anyone ever heard of this? It seems to be some kind of rogue anti-spyware program and has many popups to try to prompt you to run this scan and then buy the product. These infections are all fake. I don't know how this got thru, because I subscribe to Norton Anti-Virus. This program is attached to your startup menu and configured to start automatically. If you see this thing happening, please DO NOT purchase the program based on anything it displays. The real infection is the Antimalware Doctor and the malware that installed it. Fortunately, I did not use my credit card to purchase this program, so am avoiding having the hassle of contacting my bank to dispute any charges. Y'all, I hope you take heed... this is not based on anything I heard-- I just had the devil of a time trying to remove this thing, so that's why no one has heard from me most of today. |
