My boyfriend just got a job in New York City and asked me to move with him.  I am planning to do so around January. I have a B.S. in microbiology and plan to go on to become a nurse practitioner.  I am currently searching for schools in New York to complete an accelerated B.S.N. program. I want to find a school that won't cost me an arm and a leg (NYU and Columbia are too expensive), but also one that will allow me to be competitive for a N.P. program, while providing a high quality education. Does anyone have any suggestions or ideas to help me?

Have you thought of an online school if clinicals are not required?

I have thought about online classes, but I don't think they are a good choice for me. I learn better in a hands-on manner, and i enjoy student-teacher interaction. Thank you for the thought though.  I have completed all of the pre requisites that I am aware I should take for most nursing schools. My financial problem is that I am 22 years old. My father makes well over $100,000 per year, but I am financially independent of him.  Because of my age, I have to use his income on my grant applications. Therefore, I am not elligible for any grant money even though my father does not support me... bummer, I know.

I have started the search for New York nursing schools. I am comparing many of their pros and cons, but it is a bit difficult not recognizing the names of these schools, much less knowing their reputations. But I am optimistic! Thank you for the encouragement and anything else that would be helpful.
