Does your facility hire Indiana State University online graduates?

Posted almost 3 years ago The Indiana State University long distance learning program is accredited by the NLNAC, and is recognized by 38 state RN boards, but even so I'm hearing that some facilities won't hire these grads. I am an LVN in California, interested in the LVN-BSN track. I am also a single mom that needs to work through nursing school, and this path seems to be the only way to reaching my goals of becoming an RN. Does your facility hire grads from ISU, and if not why? I appreciate all your input! Thanks! |

| Posted over 2 years ago Our facility does but on a case by case basis. The reason some nurses are running into difficulty is that they feel that the students of this program don't get the proper clinical time needed compared to what a "traditional" brick and mortar school offers. I have to laugh at that considering the clinical rotations I currently am involved with (I'm a LPN working on my RN) are pretty much a joke. I've been a nurse for 12 years and when I go to clinicals now, I get one or maybe two (woot) patients for 8 hours and I'm bored out of my mind. Of course they give us a lot of busy paperwork to do but ultimately my clinical experiences seem like a waste of time. Since you already have nursing experience as a LPN you might have better luck landing jobs with the ISU degree. Your best bet is to inquire around and see what the policies are in your area.
