Over the last year while taking some of my prerequisite course, mainly Anatomy & Physiology Course, I had been on the search for good websites that provide tools for students to learn and grow from. Help them study for their classes and making the learning process fun as well as educational. I found a major lacking in this. One sight I found actually did allow the members to upload pictures and make naming games which I found useful for my lab classes. But as I learned the websites owner didn't like the use of photos that I had taken in class of the dissections of cats. So my photos had been removed and I, along with about half my classmates, couldn't use them to help us in memorzing the digestive system and cardiovascular system of the cats. However I was able to share the photos with my classmates and I had many of my fellow students thank me for sharing them with them.

This over time has led me to believe there is a big need for a medical professions student education website with games, news articles, tutorials, study guides, quizes, and forums for students to share and work with. I mentioned about possibly building something like this to some of my fellow students and they were completely for the idea.

Has anyone run across anything like this that was not directly tied to a specific college/university?

I am highly considering building a website for this but will obvisouly need some help since my html skills are old (lol) and I never learned any of the flash programming. So I will have to enlist others to help me.

What do you all think about a website like this?

Oh I am well aware of the mass of seasoned nurses here that are helpful. I will be using/abusing you all over the next several years. lol - But this is a resource that I think is needed beyond forums. Pretty much a Nursing Ed website.

Hello Pete, building a website for nursing students and seasoned nurses is a great idea! I believe this would be very instrumental and can be used as a form of guidance as well as personal growth within the healthcare field.

I think that is a great idea. It is important for instructors to point their students towards places to get useful information outside of class. I had one instructor who had a website for A&P that provides lots of useful websites and tools for studying...even though I'm not in A&P anymore I still use it...I'm not sure what kind of website you are aiming for, but you may find this useful...

(check out the 'useful links' on the right)

My current instructor directed us to this website...this one has A&P stuff on it as well as stuff for students currently in the nursing program that I find helpful, and it's free to use (hence the name).

Good luck!

I got a friend of mine who is a programmer who is going to help with the programming needs. We're starting on the preliminary work on this. When we have something to show I'll let you know. Oh and Gitano we should talk sometime about some possible help from your end of things too. Thanks for the offer!

Pete - I created a new website to upload all the study materials I create.  In the past I worked as a corporate trainer and consultant and have a lot of experience designing training materials.  I do it now to help me study for my classes.  I am still adding all my resources from my first two years, and will continue to add more over the next two years.

It can be found at the DailyGrog.  Just Google the name as I can't add a link here.  -Kyle
